Rock Out

This is Styx.......... I LOVE STYX.

If you know me well, then you would know that the band Styx is by FAR my favorite band. You would know that I wake up to the song "Don't Let it End" every single morning. You would know that two of my favorite girl's names are "Carrie Anne" and "Lorelei". You would know that to see into the future you DEFINITELY need a "Crystal Ball". And why should you be an "Angry Young Man" when your future is so bright?
Okay, on a more serious note, I just love Styx. I haven't found a song yet that I really do not like. About 5 months ago I found out that Styx was coming to the Western Idaho Fair in August and I just knew that I HAD to be there when they sang. I simply could not wait. Everyone who knows me well knew how much this concert meant to me. I had been prepping myself for months by listening to every Styx song in our house regularly. I was proud to find that I knew at least 94.62% of all the words of all the songs.
Yesterday was the day I'd waited for nearly all year. This was my first ever Rock Concert and it pretty much lived up to, and exceeded my expectations of a rock concert. I couldn't have been happier. We had originally planned to sit in the amphitheater seating, but due to some circumstances beyond our control, (ROAD CONSTRUCTION!!!!) we arrived to the fairgrounds, where Styx was playing, later than we'd hoped and there was not a seat in sight. This turned out to be cooler than I thought because then it forced us into the standing room only section, meaning the Mosh Pit in front of the stage!!!! How cool is that?! Granted, that there was much more alcohol than I would ever like to see again, and waaaay too much cigarette smoke. However, it was really cool to be able to jump around to all the music and yell/sing really loud next to the weirdos next to me. Not to mention, I was able to hold up my my hand in the 'rock on' sign I've been practicing my whole life for such an experience.
I stood in the massive crowd and sang my way through the night. I was able to sing along to nearly every song because I had been so diligent in listening to all the greatest Styx songs (I know that they're all great, but the ones that are classified as such on the "Greatest Hits" album in particular).
Me and Dad- My fellow Styx-ite :)

The Amphitheater, and my really "close" friends

The bald guy in front of us with the sunglasses was primarily in charge of the over-consumption of Alcohol.  Notice the beautiful scenery in the background. They kept mentioning how much they liked it.

Me and Ben. I think I got him excited about the concert as well.

Bear in mind that this is a 70s rock band and these guys are still rocking out hard. With just as much enthusiasm for what they do now that they did then. Check out the bass player on the far left. AWESOME!

This is the crew that ended up being able to come to the concert.

Me and Dad singing our hearts out to none other than "Fooling Yourself"

The huge crowd behind us, including the seats that we'd foolishly originally wanted.

Okay, get a look at the keyboard player- notice that he is playing a little strange? He was doing really cool things like that ALL NIGHT! The Coolest was when he faced the crowd and played behind his back.

Yeah, they still got it.

Okay, bear with me on this one, but, you can totally tell this was an action shot and see what he was doing with his guitar. Classic rockstar.
All in all, this could be classified as the highlight of my summer, and probably one of the best 7 dollar purchases that I have ever done. It was really fun hanging out with my dad and little brother and watching my favorite band. After the concert, we perused the fairgrounds and scrounged up some deep-fried fair food and then braved the dreaded parking lot.  We even went back through the perilous road construction that caused our 45 minute drive to turn into an hour and a half minute drive. Still, I wouldn't have traded this experience for anything in the world!

\m/ (*_*) \m/    This is my "rock on" dude.
