Troubled...

I just got done rereading one of my favorite book series: the Hunger Games.
I love and appreciate the continuous action and excitement for which this book provides, however, I become troubled after each time that I read them. I will be the first to admit that these are not what I would consider happy books, or books that make you feel good. In fact I felt quite the opposite after my first reading. But, I will say that I feel as if I have gained a valuable glimpse into human nature, which makes the series absolutely worthwhile. Now I realize the horrors that are tied together with bloodshed and war. I play Medal of Honor  with my brothers and get killed again and again by their superior skill. It never really occurred to me how actual battle situations could affect someone so deeply.
There I sit in my comfy chair shooting my digital weapon or I sit with a small book in my hands while there are REAL people out there living these horrors every single day. This was my time to find the gratitude that has eluded me for so long. Thank you to the people who risk more than losing your own life in the pursuit of the freedom of the people of this nation. So that I may enjoy a quiet ignorant lifestyle. Thank you, it will never be enough, but I see the value of your service and I cannot imagine my life without the honorable and brave men and women who are so impassioned to keep this nation free.
