For the past few years I would paint my dad a picture for Christmas. He seemed to like it enough, so I kept on doing it. This year, I decided that I was through being cheap. I wanted to get my dad something nice that he would really enjoy. I admit that I procrastinated more than I should have, but this was one of the only times that I was glad that I did. I arrived home from Rexburg on the 14th of December. On the18th or so my dad was talking to the family about how the true meaning of Christmas had been lost and how he didn't really want us to spend a whole bunch of money on his gifts this year. He turned to me and said something to the effect of "I really hope that you painted me another picture this year. I enjoy your pictures so much."
In my head I began to freak out. It had been a while since I'd painted and I didn't know if I would be able to finish anything before Christmas. I decided to draw him a picture instead (Hope he doesn't mind!). Luckily, things have been really slow around the homestead, so I can focus on getting this project done. I finished yesterday and couldn't be more pleased. Today I bought a simple frame to go with it to complete the piece. This picture is one of my Dad and his little brother when they were just little kids. It has always been one of my favorites, and I had always hoped to draw it one day. I am pleased to have done it at last. The drawing is pretty huge (18 X 24) but it is hard to tell in the picture. (I am impressed with myself that I was actually able to complete it, and with a few days to spare!)
